How we reviewed Blackplanet
As an online dating expert, I and my team conducted a thorough review of Blackplanet. We tested both the free and paid versions to get a full understanding of how this site works. In addition, we sent messages to other users on the platform – over 500 in total! It took us several days (around 5) just for that part alone as we wanted to make sure our experience was representative of what most people would encounter when using Blackplanet.
We also looked into features such as messaging capabilities, user profiles, profile pictures quality control system etc., making sure everything worked properly before drawing any conclusions about its effectiveness or usability. Moreover, our research extended beyond simply testing out the service itself –we went further by reading through customer reviews from trusted sources like Trustpilot so that no stone was left unturned during our assessment process.
Finally, what sets us apart from other review sites is commitment: not only did we take time sending messages but also spent countless hours looking at every aspect of this dating website before giving it a rating – ensuring you can trust whatever advice comes out from us regarding BlackPlanet’s performance!
Mobile App
Ah, Blackplanet – the OG of online dating sites. It’s been around since 1999 and has seen its fair share of daters come and go over the years. But one thing that hasn’t changed is whether or not it has a mobile app to make your swiping experience even easier!
Unfortunately for those looking for an easy way to access their Blackplanet account on-the-go, there isn’t currently an official mobile app available from either Apple App Store or Google Play Store (boo!). This could be because they haven’t yet caught up with other more modern dating apps in terms of technology; after all, when you compare them side by side – like comparing apples and oranges – you can see how far behind they are in comparison.
That being said though, if you’re still keen on using Blackplanet as your primary means of finding love then don’t despair just yet! You may have noticed that some third party developers have created unofficial versions which can be downloaded directly onto smartphones via APK files instead (woo hoo!). These aren’t native apps so don’t expect too much from them but at least it gives users something until such time as the site catches up with everyone else out there…if ever?
So while we wait patiently for any news about a potential new version coming our way soon(ish), why not take advantage now before this ‘window’ closes completely?! After all no one knows what tomorrow will bring right? So grab yourself a slice o’BlackPlanet pie today whilst stocks last…and who knows where things might lead next!?
Help & Support
If you’re looking for support on Blackplanet, good luck! This dating site is seriously lacking in the customer service department. I’ve tried contacting them a couple of times and never got a response – or if I did it was totally unsatisfactory.
There’s no page with frequently asked questions either, so users are pretty much left to their own devices when they have an issue that needs resolving. And forget about any kind of live chat feature; there isn’t one available at all! The only way to get help from Blackplanet is by sending an email – but even then don’t expect a speedy reply as the response time can be painfully slow (if you ever hear back).
In short: If you need assistance navigating this online dating platform, your best bet would be asking friends or searching Google for answers instead because getting help directly from Blackplanet will likely leave you disappointed and frustrated. Ugh…
Design & Usability
If you’re looking for a dating site that has all the bells and whistles, Blackplanet is not it. From its outdated design to its lack of usability, this online dating platform leaves much to be desired.
To start with, the colors are drab and uninspiring; think faded browns and grays – nothing that’s going to get your heart racing! The font choices don’t help either; they look like something from an old website circa 2005. And let’s not even talk about how clunky the navigation is: trying to find what you need on this site can feel like navigating through a maze at times!
Speaking of finding things on Blackplanet… good luck with that one too! With no search bar or sorting options available (unless you upgrade), there’s no way of knowing if someone compatible lives nearby without scrolling endlessly through profiles in hopes of stumbling across them by chance. Not exactly ideal when time is precious as we all know these days – especially when it comes down to matters related romance… wink wink.
But here’s where things really go downhill: despite being billed as “the premier social network for African Americans," many users report feeling unwelcome due their race or gender identity upon signing up – which makes sense given how little effort seems have gone into creating an inclusive environment within the app itself. That said, I suppose if anyone was expecting any UI improvements after paying for a subscription then they’d be outta luck because there doesn’t seem anything more than basic access included in those plans anyway… so why bother?
All-in-all BlackPlanet isn’t worth your time unless you’re willing put up with some major inconveniences just meet people who share similar interests/background as yourself (which could still prove difficult depending on where live). In short: proceed cautiously before committing any money towards upgrading membership here – otherwise chances are high will end disappointed either way
User Profiles
Ugh, Blackplanet. I thought this online dating site was going to be a match made in heaven but it ended up being more like an eternity of hell! It’s not the worst thing out there by any means, but it definitely doesn’t live up to its hype.
First off, all profiles are public and can be viewed by anyone on the internet – so if you’re looking for privacy or anonymity then look elsewhere! Plus, when creating your profile you don’t have much room for customization; no custom bio section or anything like that which is pretty disappointing considering how many other sites offer that feature nowadays. Location info is also included in each user’s profile with no way of hiding it – something else I wasn’t too thrilled about as far as security goes. And while they do give some indication of distance between users (like whether someone lives within 50 miles from where you are), there isn’t really any sort of search filter available to narrow down potential matches based on location criteria either…which kind defeats the purpose since most people use these kinds of sites specifically because they want geographically close partners right?
As far as premium subscriptions go – well let me just say don’t bother wasting your money here unless maybe you’re super desperate for attention ’cause trust me when I tell ya nothing special comes along with those extra fees anyway…no additional features whatsoever unfortunately 🤦🏻♀️. Oh and speaking from personal experience during my time testing out this website: fake profiles were rampant!! So yeah buyer beware y’all….I’d suggest keeping one eye open at all times 😉
All things considered though Blackplanet still has some good points worth mentioning such as their diverse community filled with interesting folks who love chatting about different topics etc., plus everyone seems very friendly and welcoming overall 👋🏼 But ultimately even taking into account those positives what we’ve got here is basically a mediocre dating site masquerading around trying to pass itself off as something better than what it actually delivers….so yeah take my advice save yourself some trouble & find another place instead 😉
Pricing
If you’re looking for a dating site, Blackplanet isn’t the place to be. Sure, it’s free – but what do you get out of that? Not much! You can create your profile and browse other people’s profiles…but that’s about it. If you want to actually communicate with anyone on the website, then forget about it – unless you pay up!
For a premium subscription fee of $19.99 per month (which is not exactly competitive), users are able to send messages back and forth as well as access exclusive features like private chat rooms or photo albums which allow them more privacy when getting acquainted with someone online. But honestly? That price tag is pretty steep considering there are plenty of better options out there at cheaper prices where all these features come standard without having to shell out extra cash each month just for basic communication privileges!
Plan | Price | Features |
---|---|---|
Free | $0 | Create a profile, Browse profiles, Chat |
Plus | $9.99/month | All free features, See who viewed your profile, See who liked your profile, Get priority customer service |
Premium | $19.99/month | All Plus features, See who’s interested in you, Get highlighted in search results, Get exclusive access to events |

Q&A
Blackplanet is a dating site that doesn’t seem to have any secure payment methods. They accept payments through PayPal, credit cards and debit cards which all feel like an insecure way of paying for something as important as online dating services. It’s really disappointing they don’t offer more reliable options such as Apple Pay or Google Wallet.
Blackplanet is a dating site that seems to be more focused on hooking people up than helping them find meaningful connections. It’s all about quantity over quality, and it doesn’t seem like the best place for serious daters. All in all, not my favorite online dating experience.
Blackplanet is a dating site, so other alternatives would be Tinder, Bumble and Hinge. None of these are as good though; they don’t have the same level of community engagement that Blackplanet does. Plus there’s no guarantee you’ll find someone special on any of them either!
Cancelling a subscription on Blackplanet is surprisingly difficult. The website makes it nearly impossible to find the option and I had to do some digging around before finally finding out how. It’s really frustrating that they make it so hard for users who want to cancel their accounts!
